Ukrainian delegation of organic sector visits NL in the framework of PSD
This visit 21-23 January 2019 aims to help the Ukrainian working team on organic seed registration with the formulation and implementation of by-laws regarding a functioning organic seed registration system, in line with EU standards, using Dutch expertise, experience and best-practices.
Organic agriculture is among the top priority sectors of Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture. The Organic sector in Ukraine, being a niche sector, is developing fast. State regulation in the field of organic production has just been developed. In August 2018, the President of Ukraine has signed the Law “On Basic Principles and Requirements to Organic Production, Circulation and Marking of organic products”. This law intends to bring the Ukrainian legislation into compliance with the EU regulations 834/2007,889/2008,1235/ 2008. This law will come into force in August 2019 and introduces National Registers of Organic Operators, a Register of Certifying Authorities and a Register of Organic Seeds, in line with the EU legislation.
