In 2035 Ukraine will produce more than 3 mln. tons of fuel bricks from agricultural biomass

According to the estimation of the Ukrainian Bioenergy Association (UaBio) in 2020 Ukraine will produce 766 thous. tons and in 2035 – already 3,2 mln. tons to cover the needs of households (for individual heating).

In 2020 50% of all fuel bricks produced in Ukraine will originate wood, while in 2035, half of fuel bricks will be made from agro biomass: from straw, maize, husks.

According to Tetyana Zhelyezna from UaBio, this estimation is based on the key indicators of the Energy strategy of Ukraine until 2035, forecast of “Biobass” SEC regarding the patterns of use and the structure of heat production heat from renewable energy sources by different sectors until 2050.

At the moment, price for 1KJ of energy produced from pellets and bricks from husks and straw is already half the price for households of 1KJ produced from natural gas, and 1/3 of the price of natural gas for industry. As the price of natural gas increases for the households, this difference will become more spectacular.
