Suspension as of 10 December of live poultry and poultry products

The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has suspended the import of live poultry (chicken, quail, ostrich, turkey, pheasant, guinea fowl and birds classified into anseriformes order) and all poultry products (except down and feather) from the Netherlands as of the 10th December 2017 following the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5) virus in the Netherlands. Meanwhile the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) has suspended the import of birds (other than poultry) as of the 11th December 2017.

However, certain highly processed egg products may not be subject to the animal quarantine in Japan. In that case these products are not banned.
