Successful Holland branding at Agricultural Show

From the 22nd until the 25th of June 2017, Dutch companies and organizations, active in agri-business in Rwanda, demonstrated their knowledge and expertise to the public at the Rwandan Agricultural Show in Kigali.

The expo was organized for the 12th year by the Rwandan Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI). This year’s theme was: ‘Adopt climate resilient technologies to improve farmer livelihoods’. MINAGRI stressed that Rwanda is in need of technologies that can help fight against climate change and the effects. Also, there is a need for sufficient quality seeds, fertilizers, water, and training and advice to ensure productive farming

This year we combined in our pavilion the presence of Dutch agri-business companies together with Dutch NGO’s active in the agri-business sector in Rwanda.

The companies, Holland Greentech, Severe Weather Consult and Future Pump got a lot of attention by exposing amongst others use of hybrid seeds, a small scale irrigation system, best agronomist practices, a solar irrigation system and an innovative weather information system technology. Holland Greentech organized a daily seminar on Horticulture Production with the use of Dutch inputs and technologies which got a lot of attention from visitors to the extend where interested farmers bought quality inputs.

Africa Improved Foods showed their products in our pavilion. The company recently started in Rwanda, manufacturing high quality, nutritious foods made of locally sourced ingredients addressing the nutritional needs of pregnant women, lactating mothers and children from 6-24 months old.

The Dutch NGO’s ICCO, PUM, Agriprofocus, Agriterra, Spark and SNV informed visitors of our pavilion on there activities in Rwanda: from strengthening capacities in the agriculture and food security Sector to strengthening of youth agri-entrepreneurs.

During the closing ceremony of the expo the Holland Pavilion was announced as award-winning pavilion!
