Vietnam’s Food and Beverage Industry

Vietnam’s domestic food and beverage (F&B) is steadily gaining in market value. Before the covid-19 pandemic the F&B industry was growing at a fast rate due to population growth, increasing household incomes and shifts in consumer behavior. The Vietnamese people spend a sizeable portion of their incomes on food and drink, around 20 to 48 percent. Vietnam is also Asia’s top beer consumer. Tourism is another sizeable contributor, tourists spend an average of 23.7 % of their budget on food and drinks while in Vietnam. Besides Vietnam’s  fast-growing middle class population there is also a sizeable youth demographic. This will influence future growth prospects, such as emergence of new culture and lifestyle trends that balance local norms with global preferences.
