A weekly summary of agriculture development and production in Vietnam by VietLinh online.

Livestock:

Thanks to favorable natural conditions, for many years, people in Kim Son Commune, Son Tay Town, Hanoi City have developed a honey beekeeping model. Up to now, the model has been effective and brings high economic value.

With a total of 2,500 colonies, and 3 to 5 crops/year, the annual output of honey is 25,000 30,000 liters.

Currently, with the selling price from VND220,000 to 250,000/liter, the incomes from beekeeping for honey are hundreds of millions of Vietnamese dong/year for each farming households.

Pet, Flowers and Ornamental Plants:

Floating flower market in Ho Chi Minh City this Lunar New Year Holiday opens from February 6 to February 11. Particularly, the small seaside decorations will be maintained until February 17.

Floating flower market is held on the banks of Tau Hu - Ben Nghe Canal, Ben Binh Dong Route and Nguyen Van Cua Street (Ward 13, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City). Participating in the flower market are gardeners, traders in southwestern provinces. The market will have more than 590 trading boats and booths with a variety of flowers, ornamental plants and traditional fruits for the Lunar New Year Holiday.

Plantation:

According to authorities of Dong Thap Province, in the winter-spring crop in 2020-2021, the whole province sows more than 200,000 hectares of rice.

At this time, there are more than 9,000 hectares of early-seeded rice that has begun to be harvested. The average yield is 67.8 quintals/hectare, and the output is 65.3 tons.

A remarkable point is that this year, the area of ​​sticky rice has increased, making the price of sticky rice as low as that of normal rice at VND6,300 - 6,350/kilogram.

Fruits:

Many gardeners in Chau Thanh District, Hau Giang Province said that traders have contacted them to order pomelo with the word "Tai - Loc" (good fortune) printed for the Lunar New Year Holiday. The selling price of these pomelos at the garden is from VND800,000 to 1 million/pair.

The above price is an increase of VND200,000-300,000/pair compared to the same period last year.

According to the gardeners, the reason for the increase in pomelo price is the decrease in supply this year. Pomelo fruits have been ripe early. Since then, it has been difficult to make pomelos with words printed on the Lunar New Year occasion.

Farmers, Agriculture, Countryside:

The Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair with the theme "Happy Lunar New Year 2021" was held at Long Bien Vincom Plaza (Phuc Loi Ward, Long Bien District, Hanoi City).

With a scale of more than 100 exhibition booths from 40 provinces and cities nationwide, the fair is decorated and staged to show the culture and culinary specialties of different regions of Vietnam. The fair recreates the Lunar New Year market space. It displays and sells typical local products representing the upcoming holiday.

Living and Environment:

According to leaders of Bach Ma National Park (Thua Thien Hue Province), the park organized 288 biodiversity-monitoring rounds. At the same time, it receives, rescues, takes care of and releases 106 individual wild animals into natural forests (an increase of 98 individuals compared to the same period last year).

Up to now, Bach Ma National Park has collected 63 orchid species with nearly 600 individuals for research and display. The park also expands nurseries of indigenous species with a scale of over 30,000 trees/year, and increases forest planting in 2020.
