Thailand and the Netherlands have fixed Partnership Arrangement in Electronic Certification (e-Cert)

Thailand and the Netherlands in February 20th, 2020 have signed their Partnership Arrangement (MOU) on Electronic Certification (e-Cert) at Thai Department of Agriculture (DOA).

The MOU was signed by Mr. Willem Schoustra, Agricultural Counsellor on behalf of NVWA and Ms. Ing-On Panyakit, Deputy Director-General of Thai DOA on behalf of Thai competent authority.

After an in-depth study and collaboration for several years, Thai DOA and The Netherlands NVWA (The Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority) decided to work together on the preparations for a project on electronic certification (e-Cert) of agricultural consignments. Thai – Dutch Partnership Arrangement (MOU) signing ceremony was took place in February 20th, 2020 in Bangkok. Dutch Ambassador (Kees Rade) and Director-General of Thai DOA (Dr. Surmsuk Salakpetch) witness the signing ceremony. The MOU was signed by Willem Schoustra, Dutch Agricultural Counsellor for Thailand & Vietnam on behalf of NVWA and Ms. Ing-On Panyakit, Deputy Director-General of Thai DOA on behalf of Thai competent authority.

“Both Thailand and the Netherlands are global key players for agriculture and food sector.

“Electronic certification will benefit to the reliability and timeliness of sanitary and phytosanitary information between the Competent Authorities in both countries about shipped consignments without changing any responsibilities. Signing the MOU is an important step in this process, the Dutch team will come to Bangkok at shortest possible terms to finalise a work program based on this MOU. By signing this MoU, Thailand and The Netherlands commit themselves to make this cooperation another example of a successful project introducing a modern based on international standards technical exchange that will strengthening the relation between Thailand and the Netherlands and make the existing trade in agricultural products more reliable and smoother. The Netherlands proudly welcomes Thailand in the international community working on the strengthening of the information position of SPS authorities” quoted by Ambassador Kees during the signing ceremony at Thai DOA.
