Holland Pavilion at Horti ASIA 2018 in Bangkok - Your Meeting Point for horticultural partners in Thailand and Asia

The global demand for food has significantly increased in the past few years and is likely to continue to do so in the years to come. An expected growth of the world population to 9 billion by 2050, an increasingly urbanized world and a growing scarcity of land and water for agricultural activities all contribute to this. To ensure food security in the future, productivity improvements need to be made today. Adopting new technologies and embracing innovation in the agricultural value chain, in combination with “Precision Agriculture/Horticulture”, is the key to success.

“The Netherlands Horticulture Sector offers innovative, sustainable solutions that contribute to food security, food safety and a healthier world. The truly unique Dutch Horticultural sector is highly innovative and combines the health benefits of fruits and vegetables with shelf life and flavour. The sector tailors the requirements for food (and non-food or ornamental products) to worldwide local needs.” Kees Rade, the Netherlands Ambassador to Thailand said during the ‘Holland in Horti ASIA 2018’ Press Conference recently. “With its expertise, innovative approach, entrepreneurial spirit and international outlook, the Dutch horticultural sector is an international leader and trendsetter. In the Netherlands, the government, private sector, universities and research centres are working together to define the agricultural & horticultural policy and to ensure enough and safe food under the global challenges (climate change, growing population etc.). Therefore, I would like to invite our business alliances in the horticultural sector from Thailand and Asia to visit our Holland Pavilion and to meet the 18 leading horticultural companies from the Netherlands during Horti ASIA 2018 in Bangkok,” said Ambassador Kees.
