Romania: large greenfield investment in irrigation solutions plant

Germany’s B Braun is conducting one of the largest investments in Romania in an irrigation solutions plant in Sanandrei near Timisoara (western Romania). The company has applied for a EUR12.4 million state aid for the actual construction of the plant, the final phase of the project. The total investment stands at EUR35.5 million, as shown in the list approved by the Finance Ministry. B Braun’s application for state aid got the green light in August 2020.

“The project is the largest greenfield investment of the group in Romania, in Sanandrei, Timis County, conducted in two phases,” the company officials say. The first phase is the construction of the administrative building and of the lab and it has been completed. The second phase is the actual construction of the plant, which consists of the design, bidding and construction phases.

Construction will begin this fall, somewhat later than scheduled, due to the pandemic, the officials added.

The initial deadline for the completion of the EUR120 million investment (both phases) was fall 2021, three years from the start of work on the site near Timisoara.
