Poland: Conference Green Deal and impact war

On May 9, Europe Day, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, SGGW, together with the Embassies of the Netherlands, France and Germany, will organize a conference about the “European Green Deal: challenges for the agribusiness sector and rural areas” that will be approached from the perspectives of both implementation feasibility and impact of the war in Ukraine. Keynote speaker from the Netherlands is mr Andre Hoogendijk, Director-General of BO Akkerbouw.

We would like to invite you to participate in the fifth edition of the International Scientific Conference on Economic Sciences for Agribusiness and Rural Economy (ESARE) organized by the Institute of Economics and Finance of Warsaw University of Life Sciences on 9 May 2022.  

The main theme of this year's conference is: „European Green Deal: challenges for the agribusiness sector and rural areas”.
Conference topics include:

•    Agriculture and biodiversity
•    Challenges for the agri-food sector
•    Environmental efficiency in agri-food sector and in rural areas  
•    Energy management in rural areas  
•    Changes in land use

•    Eco-schemes and other instruments of “green architecture”
•    The impact of the war in Ukraine on implementing the European Green Deal's goals

The conference on May 9th, will be held stationary at SGGW with the possibility of online participation, and will feature keynote speakers and a panel discussion.

Keynote speakers at the plenary session on May 9th will include: prof. Alan Mathews from the Department of Economics, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin, dr Guy Peer from the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig,  dr Tania Runge from the Thünen Institute of Rural Studies and UFZ - Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, and dr Jerzy Plewa former Director-General of European Commission, Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development.


The keynote speeches will be followed by keynote speeches and a panel discussion between the invited representatives of three Embassies: Embassy of France – Dr. Pierre-Marie Aubert from the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), Embassy of Germany – Mr. Peter Friedmann Kraft Food and Agriculture Advisor, and Embassy of the Netherlands – Mr. André Hoogendijk Director-General of BO Akkerbouw.
