National Farm Day 2024
II National Farm Day was held at Rozvolozhzhya Farm, Kyiv Region, Ukraine on 9 August 2024
The representatives of more than 60 local dairy farms from all over Ukraine, as well as representatives of agrarian universities, milk processing plants, industry experts and companies - suppliers gathered on the farm to dicuss the dairy sector develoment and learn farm management experience of Anoon Smits and Myke van der Avoird.
"The cornerstone of everything is what is best for the cow. On a dairy farm, you always have to start and finish with the answer to this question", - this is how the owner of the farm, Antoon Smits, describes his approach to dairy farm management.
The organizers of the event — the Association of Milk Producers, the Dykun company and the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council. The partners of the event is the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine and the companies - suppliers to the sector.

The National Farm Day program was divided into two blocks: seminar and a farm visit.
During the seminar the industry's leading experts presented the state and prospects of the dairy industry of Ukraine, new technologies and approaches to the efficient feeding, tips for building your own feed mill, lessons for dairy farms learned from the record heat of the summer of 2024.
Antoon Smits, the owner of Agrofirm Rozvolozhzhya, launched the meeting and presented the history and evolution of the dairy farm: from 350 cows with a milk yield of 7 l/day in 2008 to a modern dairy complex with 2,200 dairy cows with a milk yield of 34+ l/day and with a CFU level of up to 100,000 CFU/ml, which is among the top 20 farms in Ukraine today.
Hanna Lavreniuk, general director of the Association of Milk Producers described the current state and prospects of the dairy industry of Ukraine, as well as the challenges and opportunities of European integration for the Ukrainian dairy sector.
Denys Timchenko, an expert in milk production technology of the AVM Consulting Center, emphasized what lessons of the record heat of July 2024 must be learned and taken into account this year and for future.
Volodymyr Mirnenko, brand manager of Pöttinger Ukraine, revealed the topic of growing and efficient harvesting of alfalfa for preservation of its most valuable part - leaf mass.
Mykola Demchak, director of the Siy Dobro company, representative of Buschhoff Ukraine, presented the advantages of own production of compound feed for cattle, the algorithm for selecting components and technologies for such production "from idea to implementation".
Oryna Basanets, a representative of the Agroinmash company, presented technological solutions and equipment for harvesting and distribution of fodder, which are successfully used at Rozvolozhya farm.
Valery Alekseev, an independent expert on feed procurement, told about the features and factors of successful storage of grain and roughage in polymer sleeves, as well as the importance and best approaches to environmentally responsible disposal of used sleeves.
During the visit to the dairy farm, the farm team and the owners, Anoon Smits and Myke van der Avoird, provided a tour around the main blocks and explained the technological solutions used to ensure te high efficiency and quliaty of their farm.
