Indonesia’s Agriculture and Fisheries Quarantine Agencies Unified

This announcement is made for the Dutch agriculture business players interested in or having business with Indonesian markets.

The Indonesian House of Representatives and the Government agreed on 18 July 2018 to create one quarantine agency merged from two separate agencies currently existing in the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs and The Ministry of Agriculture. The Unified Quarantine Agency will be working directly under the President of the Republic of Indonesia, and it will be effective soon after associated administrative and regulations are completed.

The new single Quarantine Agency is authorised to have full power to preserve the sovereignty of the country and the interests of the people in the field of quarantine, including to support local products and producers domestically against the strikes of free trade and global competition.
