Background

Saudi Arabia and the UAE are prioritizing investments in food logistics and post-harvest technologies to enhance food security, self-sufficiency and sustainability. As a global leader in cold chain solutions and post-harvest innovations, the Netherlands is well-positioned to support these developments. This mission provides a unique platform to engage with key stakeholders, establish strategic partnerships and explore business opportunities in this rapidly growing sector.

Mission Objectives

  • Gain insight into the cold chain logistics and post-harvest ecosystems of Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
  • Build connections with key stakeholders to explore trade and investment partnerships
  • Identify opportunities for Dutch expertise and explore potential collaboration in advanced logistics, food preservation, packaging and sustainability.
  • Obtain insights into market entry requirements, regulatory frameworks, and investment climate for Dutch companies.
  • A foundation for further engagement, including follow-up trade missions, B2B matchmaking, and potential pilot projects.

Key Focus Areas

  • Cold chain logistics: advanced refrigerated transport, climate-controlled warehousing, and digital monitoring solutions.
  • Post-harvest solutions: advanced packaging, food preservation technologies, and supply chain management to reduce food loss.
  • Sustainability & innovation: Integration of renewable energy in cold storage, AI-driven logistics optimization, and circular agriculture practices.

Programme

The programme will include high-level meetings, site visits, seminars and B2B networking. We will aim to tailor activities to match the interests of participating companies. Key components include:

Sunday, 25 May – Travel to Dubai

Monday, 26 May  – Kick-off briefing, site visits & networking reception in UAE

Tuesday, 27 May  – Dubai site visit, flight to Riyadh & visit to Saudi Warehousing & Logistics Expo

Wednesday, 28 May – Site visit and seminar with multiple stakeholders in KSA, Flight back to the Netherlands

Thursday, 29 May (optional) – site visits and afternoon to follow-up appointments. Flight back to the Netherlands

For Whom

This trade mission is aimed at Dutch companies, knowledge institutions and professionals active in the fields of cold chain logistics, post-harvest technology, agri-food innovation and sustainable supply chains.

Costs

There is no participation fee for this mission. However, delegates are responsible for covering their own costs as per below:

Included:

  • Participation in the collective programme.
  • Local transfers related to programme activities.
  • Networking lunches and dinners included in the programme.

Not Included:

  • International flights and accommodation.
  • Individual transport outside the programme.
  • Meals outside the programme and personal expenses.

The Dutch government considers responsible business conduct (RBC) important and endorses the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. These lay down the RBC standards for internationally active entrepreneurs. Compliance with these OECD guidelines is one of the conditions for participating in this mission.

Would you like to participate in this trade mission? The deadline to register is April 18, 2025.

Due to limited capacity, we aim for a maximum of one participant per organization. Depending on registrations, a second participant may be allowed. Registration does not guarantee participation; selection will be based on relevance to the mission’s objectives.
