Palestine, Jordan launch joint agricultural venture

The government of Jordan and the Palestinian Authority have undertaken to establish a company to market agricultural produces, writes Roya News from Jordan. The Netherlands Agricultural Network in Egypt and Jordan follows developments concerning state owned agribusiness enterprises to see what effect they have on opportunities for cooperation, trade and investment.

Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture signed the first report for the 'Jordanian-Palestinian Company for Marketing Agricultural Products,' in the presence of the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Al-Hunaifat, who represented the Jordanian side, and his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad Al-Atari. During the press conference, Hunaifat emphasized the depth of Jordanian-Palestinian relations, with such agreements and partnerships supporting the steadfastness of the people in Palestine. 

These ventures also translate the Kingdom [of Jordan]’s […] vision in advancing the means of communication and partnership with Palestine, said Hunaifat, indicating that all legal procedures have been prepared and the company was registered according to the official frameworks of the two countries. A total of 18 million [Jordanian Dinars] in capital has been deposited equally between the two countries for the country, noted Hunaifat. All logistics have been determined too, he said, including organizing the local market and addressing distortions through appropriate competitive mechanisms such as packaging, studying market needs and working on contracts to benefit small farmers.
