A closer look at the LAN-Andes annual plan for Colombia, Peru and Ecuador

Our work in the Andean region of Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador centers on promoting sustainable food production (linked to nature conservation) through a foodsystems approach, while supporting Dutch businesses, knowledge institutions, and NGOs. These priorities are fully integrated into our three main initiatives: circular agriculture, urban feeding, and biodiversity, forests, and land matters.

Likewise, the LAN-office supports the improvement of access to and maintenance of markets for Dutch agri-food products, contributes to building sustainable (and circular) agriculture value chains and collaborates with Colombia and Peru to overcome the challenge to feed its ever growing cities (in size and population) with the aim of contributing to these countries’ food and nutritional security.

Taking into account the constant policy and economic developments, the agricultural team is quite (pro)active with regards to developing strategies, plans and activities based on the food systems approach and in line with the "Solving global challenges together" and "Farming the future" campaigns. These are important roadmaps for the Netherlands, that also grow in interest from local counterparts. LAN-Andes is working together with local and Dutch partners to address several issues as you can see in our infographic for our annual plan 2023.
