Bulgaria: BGN 141 million foreseen for agricultural business from the Rural Development Program

Subsidy calls for nine measures to be initiated this year

Calls for nine measures from the Rural Development Program (2014-2020) will be initiated next year. The total grant allocation for all procedures will be BGN 141 million. The call for innovations submeasure 16. 1 will be initiated at the beginning of the year. Procedure for submeasure 7.3 for creating broadband infrastructure in small settlements will also be initiated during the year.

Irrigation submeasure to be opened in May

Three procedures will be initiated in May this year. These are submeasure 1.1 “Professional training and acquisition of skills”, submeasure 4.3 “Investments in infrastructure” and submeasure 6.3 “Initial support for the development of small properties”. The BG value of EUR 8,000 budget is foreseen for the measure for professional training.

The total value of the grant for measure 4.3 will be the BGN equivalent of almost EUR 50.5 million. The goal of submeasure 4.3 is restauration of the irrigation infrastructure through reconstruction and modernization. Project for the submeasure was presented during the last session of the Committee for Supervision of the Rural Development Program. The document will be discussed with DJ AGRI in the European Commission. Once the measure is approved working groups will be formed for discussion of the application conditions.

Submeasure 6.3 for supporting the development of small properties will start with budget of EUR 22 million. One project can be financed with a maximum of EUR 15,000.

There will be a measure for promotion of short delivery chains

Procedure for submeasure 7.6 “Research and investments in maintenance, restoration and improvement of the cultural and natural heritage of the villages” is foreseen for the month of June. The total grant allocation  will be the BGN value of EUR 12 million.

The procedure for submeasure 16.4 “Support for horizontal and vertical cooperation between participants in the delivery chain” is planned to start in September. The maximum budget for the second phase is EUR 8 million. Acceptable candidates are organizations of farmers, small and medium enterprises or retailers performing their activities within a specific short delivery chain or within a specific local market.

In November the procedure for submeasure 19.1 “Support for preparation activities” will be open. One project will apply for a maximum of EUR 15,000.

The current applications for submeasure 19.3 “Preparation and execution of activities for cooperation of local initiative groups” are still in process. The BGN value of EUR 1 million is grant allocation for the procedure for 2019. Acceptable candidates for this measure are approved local initiative groups.
