New Bird Flu Outbreak on Duck Farm in SE Bulgaria

Sofia - A new outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu virus has been confirmed on a duck farm in the southeastern village of Zimnitsa, Yambol Region, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry said.

All measures for the elimination of the outbreak have been taken. All of the birds at the farm are expected to be culled by the end of the day. A three-kilometer protection zone and a 10-km observation area have been set up, and a ban on the trade and movement of domestic, wild and other birds and trade in eggs, has been imposed.
