Bulb production in Holland plays an important role in cut-flower lily production in Japan. A series of campaigns were organized in the past to promote the sales of cut-flower lilies in Japan. During the Lily Angels campaign (2013-2017) 48 members from lily producing families across Japan were selected to become “Lily Ambassador”.  This number was expanded to 100 members from lily producers, auction staff and retailers during the 2018-2020 campaign. The Lily Ambassador Association, with auction members across Japan, has launched this year a follow up to continue the lily promotion efforts. The so-called “Lovelily Ambassador Project” aims to involve the Japanese-Dutch bulb sector and further develop the lily industry.

Due to influence of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the sales of cut-flower lilies for business purposes have declined as events, wedding ceremonies and funerals have been canceled or downscaled. This also has significant impact on the bulb trade in Holland. To discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, a webinar will be organized, right after the launch ceremony of  Lovelily Ambassador Project.
