The Seafood Stewardship Index is a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam. It develops indices that encourage and inspire companies to contribute to positive change.Through an extensive multi-takeholder process, an index helps to clarify and reach consensus on societal expectations from leading industries in terms of their contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Index will focus on the strategies, policies and performance of leading seafood companies in the stewardship of natural resources and responsible supply chains.

The first roundtable took place in Jakarta in December 2016. The second roundtable will be hosted by H.E. Mr. Aart Jacobi, Netherlands Ambassador at his Residence in Tokyo on 22 February.  The round table will bring together people from companies ‘in scope’ which will be reported on in the Seafood Stewardship Index,  key stakeholder groups, including financial institutions, academia, labour and environmental experts, civil society, buyers and seafood industry. The stakeholders get together to discuss the different SDG-expectations of the seafood industry in relation to our draft methodology. The outcomes of this roundtable and the subsequent public consultation will serve as important input for finalising the Index methodology against which seafood companies will be assessed and compared.
