The Netherlands Agricultural Network (LAN) is actively exploring nature-inclusive farming practices worldwide. In the newest edition of our e-magazine, Agrospecial Nature-inclusive agriculture worldwide, the agricultural teams from 36 countries provide a detailed overview of the development, benefits, and challenges associated with this innovative farming approach in their region. It also includes points of view from the Dutch public and private domain. The edition is completely in English.

Tijdens de jaarlijkse conferentie van de ‘Union Wallonne des Agricultrices’ presenteerden het Waalse  ‘Observatoire de la Consommation’ en het marktonderzoeksbureau GfK de laatste trends in de Waalse voedingsconsumptie (cijfers voor mei 2022). Algemene trend: de positieve effecten van Covid-19 op de consumptie van duurzame voeding zijn tijdelijk van aard gebleken. Daarentegen staan de huidige voedingsaankopen sterk onder invloed van de gevolgen van de oorlog in Oekraïne. Maar ondanks de hoge prijzen van vegetarische voedingsproducten begint ook in Wallonië de eiwittransitie aan consumentenzijde vorm te krijgen

België: Waals consument van de toekomst is uit op gemak, is flexitariër en eet minder seizoensgebonden.

De Franse Rekenkamer heeft 22 mei een rapport uitgebracht over de Franse rundveehouderij (melkvee en vleesvee). In dit rapport beveelt de Rekenkamer de regering aan een strategie te ontwikkelen voor de reductie van de Franse rundveestapel en doet het aanbevelingen om rundveehouders die in problemen verkeren te helpen hun bedrijf aan te passen.

Hungary: Food industry investments increased but inflation persists as economy slows

In maart 2020 presenteerde de Luxemburgse minister van Landbouw het ambitieuze plan “PAN-BIO 2025”, waarmee Luxemburg zijn plannen ontplooide voor 100% biologisch landbouwareaal tegen 2050 met een tussentijdse doelstelling van 20% tegen 2025 (goed voor 25.000 ha). Anno 2023 is het tijd voor een tussenbalans van de gerealiseerde cijfers en ingevoerde beleidsmaatregelen. Maar zelfs de Luxemburgse minister van Landbouw heeft al toegegeven dat het moeilijk zal zijn om de ambities waar te maken.

The poultry sector is one of the most important sectors of domestic agricultural production with a long tradition of rearing and of great importance for the country’s food economy. Since 2014, Poland has been the largest poultry producer in the European Union, with the share of almost 20% in the EU production in 2021. The continued development of the production of poultry in Poland is stimulated by the growing export demand and the demand for poultry both from the domestic HoReCa sector and directly from consumers.

Serbia: Farmers sign agreement with government

What started as a campaign supported by 150,000 people in Germany encouraging supermarkets to stop buying Spanish strawberries could become a more serious problem. Following this boycott attempt to avoid contributing to the drying up of the wetland Doñana, a group of German MPs is visiting Spain this week. Growers are "offended" by what they see as an “unacceptable intrusion”.

One of the terrible results of the blowing up of Kakhovka hydroelectric power station will be more than 20,000 hectares of agricultural land taken out of operation for many years, on which Ukrainian vegetable growing was concentrated, says Vadym Dudka, the director of the largest consulting vegetable growing company in Ukraine Agroanalysis LLC, whose main office before the war was in Kakhovka.
