Highlights Agroberichten Buitenland week 31, 2022

Highlights Agroberichten Buitenland is de wekelijkse nieuwsbrief van het Landbouwattachénetwerk. U wordt iedere week geattendeerd op nieuws, activiteiten en achtergrondinformatie van 60 landbouwteams actief in 80 landen.

Tot einde augustus verschijnt de nieuwsbrief Highlights in een tweewekelijke frequentie in verband met de zomerperiode. De volgende editie verschijnt op 18 augustus.

OESO: nieuw rapport Agricultural policy monitoring and evaluation

De organisatie voor Economische Samenwerking en Ontwikkeling (OESO) becijfert in haar nieuwe rapport dat de totale steun aan de landbouwsectoren in 54 landen (waarvan 38 OESO landen) in de periode 2019-21 807 miljard euro (817 miljard dollar) bedroeg.

- Ukraine: FAO announces procurement opportunity for grain storages

Together with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, FAO is working on the implementation of the Grain Storage Support Strategy  the goal of which is to provide storage capacity for 4.07 million tons of grain, or approximately 25% of the estimated grain storage deficit.

Deze grote beurs is een bron van inspiratie voor de wereldwijde foodbusiness en een plek waar samenwerking tot stand komt tussen de verschillende spelers. Voedsel is aan het veranderen: transities, heruitvindingen en maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen zijn aan de orde van de dag in de sector.

- Bulgaria: wholesale prices of vegetables rise

The price of tomatoes increased by 6.2% to BGN 2.40 per kg, cucumbers gained 29.2% to BGN 2.08 per kg. Potatoes edged down by BGN 0.06 to BGN 1.06 per kg. Carrots edged up to BGN 1.09 per kg. Cabbage remained unchanged at BGN 0.82 per kg.

AZIË - Japan: successful visit of Innovation mission Greenhouse Robotics

From 10 to 15 July RVO, in cooperation with the agricultural and innovation sections of the Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo, organized an innovation mission to Japan on greenhouse robotics. The Top Sector’s seed money project JaNeth Onshitsu Robotto formed part of the mission’s program as it shared the mission’s objective.

- Vietnam: cashew industry reduces export target

According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 6 months of the year, cashew export turnover reached 1.5 billion USD with more than 249,000 tons, down 9.1% in volume, down 9.2% in value compared to the same period in 2021.

The EU Delegation in Saudi Arabia is organizing a 2-day European Food Festival in the fall of 2022, in cooperation with embassies of EU Member States and Saudi authorities. The Food Festival is intended to celebrate Europe’s rich culinary traditions and diversity. We call for Dutch companies, or companies importing Dutch food items, to show interest to participate in this event to put food from the Netherlands on the map.

- VS: USDA People's Garden showcases local food production

Members of the Ag team at the Netherlands Embassy in Washington D.C. visited the USDA’s National Headquarters on the National Mall to work as volunteers in the USDA’s People’s Garden. The Ag team volunteered alongside members of the USDA as well as Mrs. Christie Vilsack, the wife of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.

- Mexico: authorities and retailers commit to protect ornamental plant breeders rights

In a new agreement signed between the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development and Mexico’s national retail association ANTAD, both parties commit to protect breeders rights in Mexico’s ornamental plants and flowers sector. They however need Dutch and other breeders to actively collaborate, register their varieties in Mexico and formalize contracts with buyers to make this agreement work.

- Chili: expertbezoek over kwekersrechten en fytosanitaire zaken

In het kader van de Toolbox Kwekersrecht heeft een Chileense delegatie van overheid en bedrijfsleven medio juli Nederland bezocht. De delegatie kwam om meer te leren over de organisatie van het kwekersrecht in Nederland en daarnaast zijn ook actuele fytosanitaire vraagstukken besproken.

- Cuba: growers trained in Emmeloord on latest potato cultivation insights

Cuban potato growers and other representatives of the Cuban potato sector were trained at the Potato Business School of the Agro-Food Cluster in Emmeloord. During the training, which will be replicated by the Cuban participants to fellow potato farmers in Cuba later this year, participants were trained in the latest insights on potato cultivation, including on good agricultural practices, farm management, crop protection.
