The ministry of LNV is organizing the Northwest European conference "Advancing sustainable animal products" (ASAP) with several workshops on 2 December. De Vlaamse minister van Omgeving (Milieu) heeft namens de Vlaamse overheid de Green Deal ‘Natuurlijke Tuinen’ ondertekend samen met meer dan 100 Vlaamse bedrijven. Ontwikkeling van de landbouwsector heeft in Uganda en Rwanda topprioriteit. De voedselzekerheid in deze landen met een snel groeiende bevolking smeekt om verhoging van de productie. “Als landbouwraad kan ik daar hopelijk een bijdrage aan leveren”, zegt Frank Buizer. Hij is sinds oktober 2020 als landbouwraad werkzaam op de Nederlandse ambassade in Kampala, met als werkgebied Uganda en Rwanda.
Currently potato is the second most important crop after maize in Kenya. The potato produces more food on less land faster than any other major food crop. The potato sector therefore offers job opportunities, strengthens trade and contributes to food security. As development of the sector offers opportunities for both Kenya and the Netherlands, we have invested in the past years in strengthening the potato value chain.
