The European Commission will allocate € 50 million to support small Ukrainian farmers in buying land

The European Commission has allocated EUR 50 million in grants, which will be distributed during two years, to support small farmers to help them acquire land. This was announced by Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the European Commission Katarina Maternova during a speech at the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Land".

“We have allocated € 50 million over two years in the form of grants to support small farmers, to be able to finance the purchase of land. This goes hand in hand with the need to develop a proper mortgage system, " Maternova said.

The EC representative said that the EU supports Ukraine in supporting small farmers, and that it is time to make sure that they are all informed about the details of land reform and have received financial support.

At the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Earth" the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law "On Amendments to the Land Code of Ukraine and other legislative acts to improve the management and deregulation in the field of land relations" (So-called bill 2194).

Thus the land decentralization in Ukraine was officially launched.
