Vietnam’s cashew exports increase in volume for the first quarter of 2021

Export volume of processed cashew nuts in the first quarter of 2021 reached 108 thousand tons and 634 million USD; increase 13.2% in volume but decrease 5.8% in value over the same period in 2020.

In the first 3 months of the year, the export of processed kernels reached 108 thousand tons and 634 million USD; increased 13.2% in volume but decreased 5.8% in value over the same period in 2020. The United States, China and the Netherlands remained the three largest cashew import markets of Vietnam, accounting for 25.1%, 16.8% and 9.5% of the total cashew nut export value, respectively.

In the first months of 2021, cashew export value increased the most in the United Arab Emirates (5.67 times). In contrast, the value of cashew exports decreased the most in the UK market, down 58.9%. The average export price of cashew in the first quarter of this year decreased by 16.8% over the same period in 2020.

Regarding the import of raw cashew nuts, in March 2021, the country imported 300,000 tons of raw cashew nuts, spending $ 490 million. For the whole first quarter of the year, the volume and value of cashew imports reached 539 thousand tons and 839 million USD, up 174.2% in volume and 171.5% in value over the same period in 2020. Tanzania , Cambodia and Ivory Coast are the three main raw cashew supply markets for Vietnam.
