With the increasing threat of the global pandemic, the rising number of reported cases and the reinstated closure of Hungary’s borders in mind, a decision has been made for  Ökoindustria 2020 to be postponed until next spring. The new date is April 28-30, 2021.

The organizers of the event commented that after having surveyed the opinions of exhibitors and visitors, it became clear that participants feel the need for events physically taking place at the site of the expo. With the number of infections on the rise, this is becoming less and less possible.

While the expo itself has been moved from this fall to next spring, the organizers report that they have created their own COVID-19 protocols and various hybrid panels with streaming options are now planned for a “pre-Ökoindustria” event in November, while they will also be working on ensuring the safe conditions and compliance with health regulations for the rescheduled Ökoindustria in 2021.

The Netherlands will be the Guest Country at the next expo. With the postponement of Ökoindustria 2020, the agro team at the Netherlands Embassy will continue to closely monitor the situation and work together with the organizers so that when the orange Dutch Pavilion finally makes an entrance in the spring of 2021, the safety of participating exhibitors and visitors will be ensured.
