'Quick Scan on Saline Agriculture Potential in Myanmar', observations and results shared with stakeholders
A half day presentation and results sharing of the quick scan ‘Saline Agriculture Potential in the Ayeyarwady Delta, Myanmar’ was organized successfully on 24th February, well attended by the stakeholders in Myanmar including the Deputy Regional Director of the Ayeyarwady, local and international organizations active in the sector.

Consortium partners Arcadis (lead), Wageningen University and Research and the Salt Doctors carried out the quick scan study in Ayeyarwady Region (partly) and Yangon Region in order to assess the potential for saline agriculture. During a 6-month project timeframe, the consortium partners aim to study salt tolerant crops, improved management practices, feasibility for the development of sustainable climate-smart agriculture in the coastal areas of Myanmar. The findings of the quick scan will serve as a basis for long-term engagements from the Netherlands with coastal areas in the whole of Myanmar. This engagement will also consider capacity building needs and setting up potential demonstration pilots.
The Agricultural Department of the Netherlands Embassy has taken the initiative, supported by the RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency).
