Situation update: African Swine Fever (ASF) in Myanmar

Myanmar Ministry of Information and Ministry of Agriculture Livestock and Irrigation on February 14 confirmed the recent outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Shan State, northern part of Myanmar. The government has already reported to OIE World Organisation of Animal Health  on February 17 with regard to the recent case.

According to Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department (LBVD), the outbreak started in NaungMon village, Lashio area of Shan State on February 6. Control measures have been applied including the movement control inside the country, control of vectors, ante and post-mortem inspections.

Last year 2019 August, Myanmar reported the first case of ASF found in Shan State.
