Vietnam’s exports of farm produce in 2019 total 41.3 billion USD
(VOVWORLD) - Exports of Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery products in 2019 hit a record high of 41.3 billion USD, up 3.5% from 2018. The agriculture sector last year enjoyed an export surplus of 9.9 billion USD, 1.1 billion USD more than in 2018.
These achievements were attributed to capitalizing on world market trends, which resulted in more export opportunities and higher product values.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong stressed the need for deeper integration into the global agricultural value chain, which will facilitate closer cooperation between farmers, enterprises, and scientists to promote production, processing, and trade. The Government has tasked the sector with putting Vietnam in the world’s top 15 most agriculturally developed countries and top 10 agricultural processing countries. Vietnam is trying to become a global processing hub and a logistics center for global agriculture.
