Stiyka Ukraina on-field seminar 28 September 2023

On 28 September 2023 the project Stiyka Ukraina gathered Dutch and Ukrainian partners, local educational institutions, small farmers and producers of horticultural products from different regions of Ukraine for their on-field seminar "Best practices of Ukrainian horticulture".

The growing season in 2023 is full of challenges that require joint efforts and sector support in order to ensure supply of the fresh products on the local markets as well as keeping earlier achieved positions on international markets.

The experts presentations covered the following topics:

- Fruit, vegetables, berries production and price in Ukraine in season 2023.

- International trends and developments which influence the market of Ukraine.

- How can Ukraine anticipate on these new trends with new crops or new growing technologies? 

- Local and international programs available in Ukraine for support of horti sector and producers.

The representatives of the companies RijkZwaan Ukrane, Enza Zaden Ukraine, Fresh Forward, Rosana / Koppert Biological Systems presented the best varieties for Ukraine and sustainable crop protections technologies.

Mark Heemskerk, Second Secretary Economic Afairs in his speech on behalf of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands delivered speech, in which he underlined that:

"The Ukrainian horticultural sector has tight links with the Netherlands. This is not only seeds and planting material for vegetables, fruit and berries. The Dutch companies also supply storage solutions, post harvest processing, sorting and freezing equipment for the fresh sector. Thurn-key solutions are available for creation of added value for the horti sector."

"The Netherlands is one of the biggest partners of Ukraine, we aim to help Ukraine to win this war and reconstruct your country. The Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine  for as long as needed : in militarily, economical and in humanitarian dimension. Most of support programs are being realized via International Institutions jointly with our partners.

But the Dutch Government also have bilateral programs to support Ukrainian economy and business in the sectors that have fruitful and long-term partnership. These programs are coordinated by the Dutch Agency for International Cooperation RVO.|

Stiyka Ukraine is a program for Private Sector Development in Ukraine as well as the preparation of the Public-Private Partnership in horticultural sector that is being implemented in Ukraine with support of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
